So, is it a boo or a yay?

In case you hadn't noticed (and I'll forgive you if you hadn't we can't all be obsessed fangirls) Cinematic Sunrise is playing a brief farewell tour and then, well, they're saying farewell. It just so happens that their third to last show was in my hometown, and of course, I was there. So, the night in brief.

It was approximately 22 degrees outside when I left the house. That is what I like to call freaking cold. That is approximately what my yard looked like as I left, only this is from last week's storm, so there was even more snow (and it was darker).
In fact, the band Nocturnal Me didn't even make it to the show as apparently they left New Jersey at 8pm on Thursday, and couldn't get to Michigan by 7pm on Friday.

Anyway, all of the bands were pretty darn good. Josiah Gentry seemed like a nice kid, and was a half decent opening act (and let me tell you , I've seen some really shitty local opening bands). And Katie Stanley sounded a lot like Greta Salpeter (of the Hush Sound) except for that I couldn't hear a lot of her set as the girl slightly to the right of me kept complaining loudly about the fact that everyone was talking while she was on stage.

And then Craig Owens showed up, so she had to run away to meet him.

The Arrival were up next. They also didn't suck, although I completely hadn't realized that they would be there. Which doesn't really matter as I had never heard of them before, but they were really good. A little rock (read rawk) guitar, a little synth played by a computer, basically a little of the usual, but played well and energetically which pretty much makes it all worthwhile.

After that it was finally time for the big moment. Cinematic Sunrise came on stage, and it was awesome. It would have been more awesome if three-quarters of the crowd hadn't come to the show with the sole intention of seducing and/or kidnapping Craig Owens (yes, I heard at least 3 plots to do either or both of those things) and therefore most people didn't really know any of the songs, but the band was really good. Really, really good, in fact.

So, there you go. My night in brief. It was a fantastically good time, and I am sad to see the band go.

L.G.F.U.A.D! or not... whatever

Okay, so Motion City Soundtrack just announced their new tour dates this afternoon. They're playing here in January! Yay! I am now officially ridiculously excited. Ridiculously. Excited.

So, while I was waiting in line to see a concert the other day, a girl behind me said a very funny thing. She said that she was a huge fan of Owl City (and it is true, they are a great band) and she was, therefore, really unhappy when she heard their latest single on the radio. And I am... confused.

(by the way, watch the video)

I mean, I suppose I understand that you want your favorite bands to be special to you, alone. Scratch that, I don't understand that at all. I think the only thing better than finding an amazing new band is telling everyone about them (hence the blog, I suppose).

(Speaking of which, watch the new fun. video while you're still taking my advice)

So, anyway, I just thought it was something to think on. And once again, I come to the conclusion that on the whole, people are really weird.

(oh, and don't forget to pick up a copy of Dear Jack, the documentary about Andrew McMahon (of Jack's Mannequin, Something Corporate) and his fight with cancer)

You know I love you, but...

Remember last year, when I told you about my favorite albums? Well, one of those fantastical albums was Razia's Shadow, by Forgive Durden. Its a really cool musical with lots of guest vocals, and really good music as a whole. Then I saw Forgive Durden play on the Razia's Shadow tour, and it was downright epic. Seriously, one of the best shows I've ever seen (and let's be honest, I've seen a fair few). Then this happened...

I want to like the stage performance of Razia's Shadow, really I do.

Wanna see my talent...?

So, in the spirit of actually keeping you up to date as to what is happening around these parts, I think you should know I went and saw the Traveling Talent Show Tour (featuring The White Tie Affair). It was AMAZING. I actually went to see Every Avenue (if you didn't know I was a fan-girl, you haven't been paying a darn bit of attention), but all of the other bands were fantastic, as well. And I got to meet TWTA, they were really cool as well. Also, I got 4 guitar picks, a setlist, and loads of hugs and pity (I had been awake since 4 am).

Anyway, the point is it was really fun. I just thought you'd like to know.

Oh, and there was no crowdsurfing.

Dear Reader...

I've had the best summer ever! I went to about a million shows, including the Warped Tour, and the What Happens in Vegas Tour, and the Shh... It Happens Tour, and a bunch more that I can't remember right now. I met a bunch of awesome people, and collected loads of swag, but it seems I've been a touch derelict in my blogging duty. So, now that fall is upon us, its time to break out the hoodies and orphan gloves and huddle by the fireside Bob Cratchit style, and its time to get back to the keyboard for me. So, as an apology for the time together that we lost, I'll leave you with a few pictures from my summer (did I mention that I FINALLY bought a camera before Warped? How cool is that!?).
That's the lead singer of Every Avenue at Warped. That picture isn't zoomed in, he actually kicked me in the face on his way out of the crowd! It was epic.

That guy is in Breathe Carolina. I'm not a huge fan of the band, but he did some of the best crowd surfing of the whole Warped Tour.Nate from fun. kindly requests that you talk to the hand. They're album is really awesome. You should get it and then see them in concert, because they're really awesome, too.

I took about 70 pictures at the AP Fall Ball. This was the only one I liked. It was still fun, though. (That's William Beckett, of The Academy Is... by the way.

Worst. Week. Ever.

So, this week Panic at the Disco split up and The Matches went on hiatus.

I feel some serious emo coming on.
